PRISM (2024)
for Percussion, Piano, & Live Electronics
Program Notes
PRISM (2024) is an electroacoustic work that is inspired by the concept of light being separated into various colors of the spectrum. The first two minutes of the work show the prism from a distance: glassy, crystalline, and pristinely clean. As the piece continues, we hear how it rotates, shifting through different angles as we prepare to see the light. The beam of light shows itself and almost as if it were in slow motion, the beam hits the prism and radiates all colors of the spectrum. This work was completed at the end of September 2024 and premiered at the Frost School of Music Emerging Composers Concert in October 2024 by Michael Vargas, Brian Awad, and Iqra Cheema.
